Privacy Policy
Lingua Franca is a language companion for Even G2 smart glasses, with POLYGOT the parrot along for the conversation. This page explains what the app and this website store, what leaves your device and why, who processes it, and how to get it deleted. It is written to be read, not skimmed past.
The short version
- The app works without an account. Phrases, games, and your progress live on your phone. Nothing about you is uploaded until you sign in.
- Signing in uses Google. We receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We never see your Google password.
- AI features send what you say or type to processing providers (listed below) to produce a translation, a suggestion, or a pronunciation score. We do not keep your raw audio.
- No advertising, no analytics trackers, no sale of data. This website uses Google Fonts for typography and Supabase for sign-in. Stripe handles payment only if you choose Checkout.
- You can delete your account and everything attached to it by emailing us from the address you signed in with.
This website
polygot.live is a showcase plus account, billing, and device-link pages. It does not run lessons, translation, or glasses controls. When you sign in here, your browser keeps a session token in its local storage so you stay signed in; clearing site data or pressing Sign out removes it. The page requests the IBM Plex typeface from Google Fonts, which means Google's servers see your IP address as part of serving the font. There is no analytics, advertising, or tracking code on this site.
Signing in with Google
Accounts are created and verified through Google sign-in, handled by our authentication provider, Supabase. We ask Google only for the basic profile scopes: your Google account identifier, name, email address, and profile picture. We use them to create your account, show you which account you are signed into, and contact you about your account if we need to. We do not read your Gmail, contacts, calendar, or anything else in your Google account.
What we store when you have an account
Each of these is stored against your account and is visible only to you and to the service running on your behalf:
- Profile and settings: display name, mother tongue, the language you are learning, romanization and theme preferences, quiz difficulty.
- Your phrase library: phrases you save or write, with their romanization, phonetics, and grammar notes.
- Progress: per-language mastery by skill, quiz attempts and scores, streak information.
- Conversations you build: the them/you scripts you compose or save from the app.
- Pronunciation results: the score, band, and written feedback for each attempt. The recording itself is not retained.
- Plan and usage: whether your account is free, on a trial, or Premium; how many AI requests you have used in the period, so quotas can be applied fairly.
- Device linking: a one-way hashed token for each app installation linked to your account, and when it was last used. The token itself is never stored in readable form.
AI features and who processes your words
Translation, phrase suggestions, "Ask POLYGOT", conversation help, and pronunciation coaching are produced by AI. When you use them, the text or speech you submit travels through our servers to a processing provider and the result comes back. We send only what is needed for that request. The providers are:
- OpenAI: language understanding and generation, speech synthesis, live conversation sessions, and speech recognition as a fallback.
- Deepgram: speech-to-text for what you and the other person say during a conversation.
- TypeSafe AI: ranking which suggested reply fits the conversation best.
Each provider processes the request under its own terms in order to return the result. Raw audio is processed and discarded; we keep the transcript or score that comes back only where the feature needs it (for example, a phrase you chose to save). We do not use your content to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell it.
Payments
Premium is bought through Stripe. Card numbers go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers; we store only Stripe's customer and subscription identifiers and the subscription status, so the app knows what you have access to. Your three free days are a trial on that Stripe subscription, so its start and end come from Stripe, not from when you signed up.
Who else is involved
- Even Realities distributes the app through Even Hub. Their handling of your Even account is governed by their own privacy policy.
- Supabase hosts our accounts, database, and phrase audio (United States region).
- Vercel hosts this website and the service that relays AI requests.
- Google provides sign-in and the web font described above.
- Stripe processes payments if you choose a subscription when Checkout is offered.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
- We do not run advertising or third-party analytics in the app or on this site.
- We do not keep recordings of your voice or of the people you speak with.
- We do not read your device's contacts, photos, location, or messages.
How long we keep it
Data on your phone stays until you clear it or uninstall the app. Account data is kept for as long as the account exists. Usage counts are kept for the billing period they belong to plus the time needed to handle disputes. Deleted accounts are removed from our live systems promptly and from backups on their normal rotation.
Your choices and your rights
- Use it without an account. Nothing leaves your device except the AI requests you explicitly make.
- Sign out on this site or in the app at any time.
- Export or correct your account data by asking us.
- Delete your account and everything stored against it by emailing ops@d3hospitality.com from the address you signed in with. We confirm and complete the deletion within 30 days.
If you live somewhere with specific privacy rights (for example the EU, UK, or California), those rights apply to you and the same address is how you exercise them.
Security
Everything travels over HTTPS. Account data is isolated per user with database-level access rules, so one account cannot read another's rows. Keys that talk to processing providers and to Stripe live only on our servers, never in the app or on this site.
Children
Lingua Franca is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.
Changes
When this policy changes in a way that matters, the effective date above changes and the app or this site will point it out. Continuing to use the service after that means the new version applies.
